Academy Overview Learn
This Academy is designed to explain popular football terminology in plain language. It’s especially useful if you’re new to markets like 1X2, Double Chance, Over/Under, and BTTS, or you want quick reminders of common match stats.
Important: AmazingStakes is for analysis and entertainment. Football is unpredictable.
If odds-related content is restricted where you live, follow your local rules and age requirements (commonly 18+).
1X2 in one line
Basics
1 = home win, X = draw, 2 = away win.
It’s the simplest “match result” view.
Double Chance
Safer angle
Covers two outcomes: 1X (home/draw), X2 (draw/away), 12 (either wins).
Useful when you expect a team “not to lose”.
Over/Under goals
Goals
Based on total match goals. Example: Over 2.5 means 3+ goals; Under 2.5 means 0–2 goals.
BTTS
Both score
BTTS Yes means both teams score at least one goal.
BTTS No means at least one team doesn’t score.

Markets & Odds
1X2+
The “match result” market: 1 (home win), X (draw), 2 (away win).
MarketBasics
Double Chance (1X / X2 / 12)+
A market that covers two outcomes:
1X (home win or draw), X2 (draw or away win), 12 (either team wins).
MarketRisk control
Over/Under (1.5 / 2.5)+
Based on total goals in a match.
Over 2.5 means 3+ goals. Under 2.5 means 0–2 goals.
MarketGoals
BTTS (Both Teams To Score)+
BTTS Yes means both teams score at least once. BTTS No means at least one team fails to score.
MarketGoals
HT/FT (Half-Time / Full-Time)+
Predicts the result at half-time and full-time (e.g., Home/Home, Draw/Home, etc.). It’s a more specific market than 1X2.
MarketTiming
Odds (Decimal odds)+
A number that represents how returns are calculated in many regions. Higher odds generally imply a less likely outcome (and vice versa),
but odds can change due to news and market activity.
OddsBasics
Implied Probability+
A way to convert odds into a rough “chance” estimate. It’s called “implied” because it reflects what the odds suggest, not certainty.
OddsConcept
Value (Concept)+
“Value” is a concept where someone believes the odds offered are higher than what the true probability should be.
It’s a discussion term, not a guarantee of success.

Match & Team Stats
Form+
A team’s recent results (often last 5–10 matches). “Good form” usually means strong results recently, but it doesn’t guarantee future results.
StatsContext
xG (Expected Goals)+
A metric estimating the quality of chances created. Higher xG can suggest better chance creation over a match or period.
StatsAdvanced
Shots on Target (SoT)+
Shots that would go into the goal if not saved/blocked by the goalkeeper or a last defender on the line.
Stats
Clean Sheet+
When a team concedes zero goals in a match.
StatsDefense
Corners+
Corner kicks awarded when the defending team last touches the ball before it crosses their goal line (without a goal being scored).
Stats
Cards (Yellow / Red)+
Disciplinary actions by the referee: yellow is a warning; red means a player is sent off (team plays with fewer players).
StatsDiscipline
General Football Terms
Derby+
A match between local rivals (same city/region) or historically intense rivals. Derby games can be unpredictable due to emotions and intensity.
Football
Fixture Congestion+
A period where a team plays many matches in a short time. It can affect rotation, fatigue, and performance.
FootballContext
Home Advantage+
A general trend where teams may perform better at home due to familiar conditions, reduced travel, and crowd support.
Football
Injury Time (Stoppage Time)+
Extra minutes added at the end of each half to compensate for stoppages (injuries, substitutions, time-wasting, etc.).
